benefits of pilates
Pilates simultaneously strengthens, stretches and tones the body, improving posture, balance and poise. Pilates, coined "The Thinking Exercise", requires concentration, control and precision to locate and strengthen the smaller core muscles while the larger muscles become increasingly toned and sleek. Mix matwork with a combination of pilates circuit, kettlebell, yoga or personal training to maximize these amazing benefits.
pilates mat & pilates basics classes
Pilates is a method which aims to create a balance in the body. Pilates Mat is a group class taught on the floor, utilizing non-impact, mind-body exercises that increase the body's range of motion and flexibility. This exercise program helps develop core muscular stability in the trunk and joints, challenges the body's neuromuscular system for better coordination, and increases oxygen capacity using learned breathing techniques.
Pilates Basics classes are taught in an on-going format with no start or end date. Basics classes focus on the key principles of each exercises with step-by-step instruction. Basics classes are excellent for the beginning student, but will also remind intermediate and advanced students how to make each and every exercise more challenging and effective.
Pilates Mat Classes are also taught in an on-going basis. All levels of student are welcome in any of our Pilate Mat Classes, though we encourage new students to also take one - if not several - of our basics classes to get the most benefit from this class. Our STOTT Pilates instructors strive to keep matwork classes interesting by incorporating a variety of mini-equipment - bands, balls and magic circles - in addition to the essential exercises and basic STOTT Pilates Principles
